Synopsis

The avenue de la Grande Armee connects Napoleon Bonaparte’s Arc de Triomphe and Mitterand’s La Grande Arche, and imposing, post-modern structure, which presides over the international business district of La Defense, located on the western edge of Paris. This trajectory also marks the passage of Alain Avantil, the protagonist of L’Entretien, who journeys from the center of Paris to its outer reaches in search of a job. Like a magnet, the Grande Arche lures him into a Kafkaesque world of mistaken identity and mysterious encounters. L’Entretien describes on man’s journey into oblivion, the tragedy of conformity, and the crisis of identity in a post-modern world. (Shot on-location in Paris, France)
