Nära livet (Brink of Life) (1958) - Ingmar Bergman

Country: Sweden
Language: Swedish

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052017/

Kinonovella, uneventful, but the rich understated domestic drama, which takes place in a maternity home. It tells about three women, two of whom are eager to have a baby, the third - on the contrary, wished to get rid of it, but too late. The wishes of each of the characters are not feasible. First, a figure undoubtedly tragic, actually, and gets to the hospital to have a miscarriage. She endurance, aristocratic and unhappy, because smarter, stronger and nobler her husband (E. Yuzefsson), selfish and self-interested representative of a wealthy urban bourgeoisie. Her family is clearly divided, and the unborn child would have if not a family to bond, then at least brighten up the loneliness of such a worthy woman, whose role with restraint and feeling performs one of the best Bergman's actress Ingrid Thulin.

The three fates, three female type, three perspectives - as a blueprint for further creative director. And finally, one tiny, but psychologically and aesthetically crucial episode. In the middle of the film heroine Bibi Andersson will be released in a hospital corridor, to call for a machine to her lover, the father of the unborn child. The conversation was formed to fail, and the distraught woman gone slowly down the long corridor darkish back. And suddenly climbs like a girl ... She is really still a little girl and jumped just so - from childhood and thirst for life ... Bounce and go into a ward.

Fårödokument 1969 (1970) - Ingmar Bergman

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064355/

Country: Sweden
Language: Swedish

Fårö Document is Ingmar Bergman's first documentary. Having recently built a house on the island in the Baltic he was taken by the people who lived there and felt the need to document their everyday lives. The film was shown on Swedish television to great acclaim. (Ten years later Bergman would make a follow-up: Fårö Document 1979 (1979).

Face to Face (1976) Ingmar Bergman

Face to Face (1976) aka Ansikte mot ansikte

Genre: Drama | Fantasy
Director: Ingmar Bergman
Country: Sweden
Language: Swedish
Subtitles: English (.srt file)
Aspect Ratio: Widescreen 1.66:1
Length: 114mn
File: Dvdrip Xvid Avi - 608x384 - 25fps - 888mb

Description:
A sensitive exploration of the tragic irony of the psychiatrist suffering with mental illness. Dr. Jenny Isaksson is a psychiatrist married to another psychiatrist; both are successful in their jobs but slowly, agonizingly, she succumbs to a breakdown. Jenny is haunted by images and emotions from her past and eventually cannot function, either as a wife, a doctor or as an individual.

Face to face is another example of Swedish director Ingmar Bergman's masterful direction in order to penetrate into his actors' psyche. Bergman's sole intention in his movies is to convey the emotions, the interaction between different personalities and how they swift in the film. He uses long uninterrupted takes in such effect that many times throughout the film someone could get carried away and find itself present in the room with the protagonists. It's like Sven Nykvist forgets the camera somewhere recording, but the action continues... Bergman's usual partners are present obviously in Face to Face. Aformentioned cinematographer Sven Nykvist (who by the way has won two Oscars for Bergman's "Fanny & Alexander" and "Cries and Whispers" and was nominated for "face to face", does again superb job. But in my opinion the film is worth viewing mostly for Liv Ullmann's extraordinary performance, mominated for an Oscar as well. There is nothing that I could add, Bergman fans will find the master here in peak form.
