Synopsis :
Connie Sumner (Diane Lane) and Edward Sumner (Richard Gere) are middle aged couple living in the New York City suburbs with their seven year old son. One day due to storm she chases after taxi and bumps into a stranger Paul Martel (Olivier Martinez)Frenchman who buys and sells used books. She goes to his apartment near-bye and while leaving he gives her a book of poetry. Later that night, Connie tells her husband about the incident.The next morning while she picks up the poetry book. Paul’s business card falls out and she calls him and they both meet in Paul’s apartment and got sexual relationship. Soon Connie pulls into an affair which will become her obsession. When Edward innocently learns that his wife has lied to him, suspicion propels him to to uncover the devastating details of her infidelity. Tormented by the knowledge, he confronts her lover, only to discover a level of rage within himself that he could never have imagined.
