Synopsis: In a rural German farming community, a mentally retarded man in his twenties named Ben is taken care of by his parents. Ben loves sharp objects, like knives, ice cream, hunting small animals, burying things outside his house, and running out into the fields at night. After a young blonde Russian trapeze artist performs at a small circus in town and kisses him, Ben changes and he seems to discover his sexuality more and more. The young girl goes missing, and not long after so does another young blonde girl. Some of the townspeople, and even Ben's own father, suspect that Ben may have had something to do with the disappearances.

In the movie, Papelucho, who has always been fascinated by aliens, decides to catch one and sets a trap. Amazingly it succeeds, and the lost Martian child Det ends up living through Papelucho, with hilarious consequences. The two build a spaceship and travel to Mars, only to escape back to Earth again after the Great Leader of Mars threatens to eat them. Det eventually takes over the body of Papelucho's dog, Choclo, but when Choclo's health is put at risk Papelucho has a difficult decision to make.

To prove that such an art is possible, Zulawski makes his actors transform into lifeless figures that recite paradox phrases; and with that, he makes them the vulnerable animals that people really are, behind their masks. If you look at the dark sides, you can also find innocence, but you won't find reason or rationality – only sheer emotion, usually struggling with one's minds rational side, but the latter is entirely lost here. Still, the protagonists find ways to give their lives a philosophical fundament, and they spent the whole of the film arguing about them, thereby feeling pain, enduring humiliation, reaching for freedom. Harshly uncompromising, ever unforgettable.

"American Swing" orgies its way dickimentary, I mean documentary style, in its telling of Levenson's New York sexual staple which ran from 1979-1985 and also on his obsession on being the "King of Swing". Directors Jon Hart & Matthew Kaufman do a credible job in presenting the zaniness of the Plato period by interviewing many Plato players including: managers, patrons, employees, and even celebrities that would take a swing at Plato from time to time. Their Plato philosophies & storytelling is the rouser of "American Swing"! On the negative swing of things, the doc also presents the downfall of Levenson and "Plato's Retreat". "Plato's Retreat" will never be a historic landmark but it laid (had to use "laid" sooner or later) the foundation of the Swingers Heterosexual Sex Club Enterprise which, whether you like it or not, have been erecting from year to year in our country and are here to stay. It might not be for everyone in the household, but I say "take a swing" at the entertaining documentary "American Swing".

"Though he tries to hide behind the pseudonym F.C. Perl, director R.L. Frost can't disguise his style in the nasty "A Climax of Blue Power." This adult film follows a security guard (Jason Carns) who's got some serious hang-ups about women. In his free time he masquerades as a cop--even going as far as converting his Ford LTD into a black & white police car--and "busts" prostitutes, offering to let them go in return for sexual favors and/or fulfilling his sadistic whims (the first victim is ordered to "crawl around in the mud like a dog!"). While bumming around the beach one day, Carns hears gunshots at a nearby house. Peeking through the windows, he witnesses a woman (Angela Carnon) murder her husband. Carnon quickly becomes the focal point of Carns' obsessions. Even a three-way in a massage parlor or watching a porno movie at home can't get her out of his mind. When he learns the murder is written off as a suicide, Carns decides the murderess shouldn't get off that easy.

"A Climax of Blue Power" is hostile and gritty, and without a trace of political correctness. It also plays like a real movie, with a plot, characters and believable acting. There's even a car chase. Carns is effective in his role, his physical attractiveness (he sort of looks like a young Kurt Russell) never overshadowing his creepiness. Carnon, who's made numerous softcore movies ("Drop-Out Wife," "Booby Trap"), is another standout. (Incidentally, Carnon's scenes in this movie all appear to be softcore; an obvious stand-in was used for the hardcore close-ups). Also appearing are Frost's frequent producing partner Wes Bishop, as a detective, and Uschi Digard in a non-sexual and, surprisingly, fully-clothed cameo.

Director Frost made some of the most stylish roughies of the 1960s ("The Pick-Up," "The Defilers," "Hot Spur"). "A Climax of Blue Power" essentially uses Frost's roughie template and repackages it in a hard-X format. Though the movie has a few shaky production and story issues at its beginning (like why does a hooker keep flagging down johns in front of a police car and an unconvincing day-for-night scene), this is a must for fans of Frost's work, as well as aficionados of rough sex." - John Nail at IMDB

The MPAA gave the original cut of the film an NC-17 rating for "some graphic sexual content": scenes that illustrated the content a film could include to garner an NC-17 rating. Kirby Dick appealed, and descriptions of the ratings deliberations and appeal were included in the documentary. The new version of the film is not rated. The film is also known for another controversy: the MPAA, a longtime bastion of anti-piracy, admitted to making unauthorised duplicates of a digital copy of the film that was provided to them for the purpose of obtaining an MPAA rating, despite having assured Dick that no copies would be made.

The highly anticipated, comic and controversial feature documentary, "Flock of Dodos: the evolution-intelligent design circus," is the first feature film to take an even-handed look at the intelligent design vs. evolution clash that appeared on the covers of Time and Newsweek in 2005. Filmmaker, scientist, surfer and evolutionary biologist Dr. Randy Olson explores the controversy over the teaching of evolution and the recently developed alternative, intelligent design. Olson, a native of Kansas, visits his home state and the community of Dover, Pennsylvania, which attempted to introduce intelligent design in science classes. Olson draws on basic aspects of evolution as metaphors, including the extinct dodo, which he suggests symbolizes what happens to those unable to change with their environment. Featured are seven top advocates for intelligent design, including Dr. Michael Behe, author of "Darwin's Black Box," fourteen evolution Ph.D.'s, a poker game among eight evolutionists, a rabbit eating its own poop, and a flock of animated dodos playing poker, dancing, and helping the audience answer the question, "who really is the 'flock of dodos?'"

When one of the residents mistakes Todd for her son, he finds himself becoming emotionally attached to his work for the first time. In order to lend the film a realistic fly-on-the-wall quality, Greenebaum shot it in an actual nursing home, using real residents as many of the actors, and mixed in footage from a documentary he had made at the facility, blurring the lines between fact and fiction. Assisted Living won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2003 Slamdance Film Festival.
